Wakefield Sports Clinic’s physios have recently started a Clinical Pilates Class especially for Kids and Teens. Not only can Pilates help to improve postural awareness, flexibility, strength and balance but can also assist in maintaining a healthy body weight.
Clinical Pilates for Kids and Teens sessions are based on an individualised program in a fun small group setting. Depending on the child or teenager’s needs it can be designed for both the non-athletic child as well as the competitive teen. Pilates is a great way of getting children to participate in exercise because it caters to their various ages, fitness levels, and athletic abilities. Pilates can be used for injury prevention, rehabilitation, postural improvement and even improving self-esteem. It is the ideal cross training and injury prevention method to support growing athletes trying to keep up with the demands of school and club sport.
Sessions are run from 4:30pm – 5:15pm pm on Thursdays. An individual assessment will be required if the child or teenager is new to the clinic. Please speak to our friendly reception staff at the top of the stairs on level 1 for more details.
