Following three years of hospital specialty training, Dr Young has spent the past 29 years working in General Practice in Adelaide but retired from this role in early 2023.

As a self-confessed sports nut, wife and mother of a very active family, Dr Young has a keen interest in Sports and Exercise Medicine. She completed the SASMA Sports Medicine in General Practice Course in 2007 and since then, has worked in voluntary roles as the Team Doctor for local club football and baseball teams.

Dr Young has worked as a Surgical Assistant for Dr Richard Pope (Wakefield Orthopaedic Clinic Upper Limb Surgeon) until his retirement, and continues this orthopaedic assisting role regularly with Dr Michael Sandow and Dr Chen Tu and on occasion with other members of the Wakefield Orthopaedic Clinic team.

She was also fortunate enough to travel with the Hockeyroos in 2010 and 2011 as their Doctor for the Hockey World Cup and Champions Trophy events overseas – a highlight of her sports medicine involvement to date.

Dr Young is interested in all aspects of Sports and Exercise Medicine as a critical accompaniment to good general health and improving the outcomes of chronic disease management.
